TEXTILE CONNECTIONS
For the 2025 calendar, we wanted to strengthen the bond with the Association “Le Arti Tessili” of Maniago (PN — Itay), in the promotion of textile art. Hence Textile Connections: because with “Le Arti Tessili” we share the culture of thread and textile language; we both believe in the strong combination of tradition and innovation, and we have a common philosophy that looks to young people.
We dedicate this calendar to the artistic research of Gina Morandini. A well-known figure in the world of international fiber art, since the 1970s she has undertaken studies and research related to the popular textile art, ranging from the books of ancient weavers to the world of traditional costume. Gina Morandini’s works are real sculptures made with various textile materials, from wool, cotton and linen yarns to glass fibre fabrics and harmonic steel strips; her works express a high symbolic meaning because they are the result of a thought, a vision, as well as result of an expert manual skill, becoming an object of admiration and food for thought.
She, a project manager, researcher, historian of the Art of Fashion and Costume, a woman of talent and vision, did not limit herself to proposing textiles according to traditional canons and techniques, but wanted to relaunch such an ancient art by involving the younger generations, testing them for new challenges capable of competing with tradition, convinced that only the young could guarantee a future for this art.
Precisely in homage to the books of ancient weavers and of Gina’s preparatory drawings for the looms’ weaves, we developed the original lettering of the cover and the months of this calendar. A tribute to the artist Gina Morandini and the textile art, an art that never ceases to be contemporary and innovative.
